My Mum Talks To Aliens - This documentary film was first aired on SBS in late 2010. This documentary film questions many of the impending questions about aliens. Do they really exist? Have they really visited us in the past and are secretly assisting us in our evolution? These are just some of the questions that this documentary film answers, or rather provides a detailed discussion about their probabilities.
My Mum Talks To Aliens - The documentary film follows the expeditions of Australia’s most famous authority on extraterrestrial life; Mary Rodwell, and her son Chris Rodwell. Chris Rodwell is a veterinary physician and devotes much of his life to what he calls “solid science”, he is skeptical about the whole alien business and has had a strained relationship with his mother because he doesn’t believe in the existence of alien life on Earth.
Choosing to work in this field has cost Mary Rodwell her husband and Chris Rodwell his father, now there is a danger of losing her son as well. It is during this time that Chris Rodwell challenges her to prove to him once and for all that aliens do exist, if she fails to provide him with concrete evidence to support her beliefs, then their relationship will be over.
Mary Rodwell takes on the challenge immediately, and so the documentary film starts with Mary Rodwell and Chris Rodwell embarking on their expedition together. They will travel all over Australia and visit people that have claimed to be communicating with aliens. They will also meet some leading scientists who are in the field of space research. Chris Rodwell remains skeptical throughout the documentary film, and insists to have the witnesses take polygraph tests to authenticate their stories.
My Mum Talks To Aliens - The documentary film plays out that this is Mary Rodwell’s last chance to prove her stance is correct otherwise her son will affirm his beliefs that she has “gone nuts”, but this isn’t entirely accurate as they both share the commitment of a mother-son relationship and Chris Rodwell even sides with her when she is ridiculed in front of an audience at a university debate on the topic.
